Vitamin K Deficiency |
Turtle World |
Tour (recom.) |
Bleeding gums, a rare occurrence is due to Vitamin K deficiency, which in turn is
almost always a result of long-term antibiotic therapy, which causes the destruction
of the intestinal bacteria that synthesize vitamin K. Occasionally, it can occur without known cause. Lack of vegetarian food in the normal diet might be a probable cause. Remedial Measures 1. Increase vegetable matter in the diet. 2. Give your turtle some curd every day for 7-10 days 3. Provide animal Vitamin K supplementation, under your vets observation. |
